Privacy Policy
This policy describes what data the Polyglot Academy website, Telegram bot and app process, and why.
1. What data we keep
- The website: only one technical cookie with the language you chose.
- The bot and the app: your Telegram data (ID, first and last name, @username, language) and your settings (languages, levels, time zone).
- Learning: your Academy student number, bookings of lessons and interviews, attendance (including when you entered and left the video room), level check and sparring results, coins.
- Payment: invoice amounts and numbers, what you wrote in “I have paid” (payer’s name, date of the transfer), records of the money received and refunded. We do not keep card numbers.
- Your messages to the Academy: problem reports and explanations.
2. Why we use it
We use your data only to:
- hold lessons and interviews
- take, check and refund payments
- answer your requests and improve the service
3. Who receives data
Telegram — the bot and the app work through it. The 8x8 video service — only your first name, your Academy student number and an internal number, to let you into the video room; 8x8 tells us who entered and left the room, to take attendance; lessons are not recorded. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
4. How long we keep it
Analytics events — one year, active days — three years. The bot’s messages about a lesson are deleted from the chat after it. Financial records are kept as long as the law requires. Database backups are kept for up to 14 months.
5. Cookies
The website uses one technical cookie to remember the language you chose. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data — write to us (contacts below). You can also delete your account yourself in the app: Settings → “Delete the account”; your name, settings and messages are erased at once. Financial records the Academy must keep by law are deleted when that term ends. After the account is deleted, only a one-way fingerprint of your Telegram ID is kept — the ID itself cannot be learned from it; it only makes sure the welcome coins and the invitation reward are not given a second time.
